Peer Support

Peer Support

What Is Peer Support?

In the context of navigating a mental health diagnosis, promising research continues to emerge about the positive effects of having peer support. Peer support can take on several different forms. In some instances, it may involve one on one relationships, including mentorship, but can also be in the form of group support. Through our peer support opportunities, BIPOC with OCD have an opportunity to explore the shared lived experience of:

  • Stigma related to ethnic identity while having OCD
  • Cross cultural treatment dilemmas
  • Past challenges related to limited access to resources
  • Struggling to explain the diagnosis to family
  • Not having other BIPOC providers
  • Not knowing anyone with the diagnosis, especially BIPOC

Below are a few exciting opportunities for you to reroute your wellness journey!
