Bio | Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and congrats on taking a few moments to practice self-care. As a person of color, the act of slowing down from your many responsibilities to reach out to a therapist is a courageous step forward. With so many demands in your personal, professional, school, religious and family life, the thought of making time to talk with someone about your challenges may seem daunting. Sometimes it’s difficult to even admit that you also need support. You’re not alone in feeling this way. As people of color, we’re often told that we should be strong enough to handle all that is placed on our shoulders. We’re also faced with the difficulty of not having examples of close family members, friends or mentors who have successfully gone through therapy and experienced the mental and emotional freedom that comes with it. It’s no secret that in communities of color, seeking mental health services has been historically uncommon and sometimes even taboo. However, that can change right here, right now, with you. You deserve to thrive in your personal and professional life while being free from anxiety, panic, depression and mood disturbances. The beauty of ERP Kaleidoscope is that it connects you with providers that understand the impact of microaggressions, racism, and the need for sexual, gender, and cultural awareness, even in therapeutic settings. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and owner of OCD Set Free, I offer therapeutic services for individuals suffering with OCD and related disorders, but also family support sessions and therapeutic groups sessions. I work to support clients in reducing the stigma and shame associated with OCD and provide the evidence-based treatment for OCD – Exposure Response Prevention. For BIPOC individuals, I offer a culturally competent perspective that explains how OCD manifests in communities of color. I am also committed to bridging the gap between therapists and individuals suffering from OCD, by offering OCD education and consultation services to treatment providers. |
